Israel Part 2 |
In this video we get a brief glimpse of Mount Tabor which is considered a holy mountain in Israel by both Jews and Christians. This is the place of victory for Barak as we read about in Judges 4:6. For Christians it is known as the Mount of Transfiguration as spoken of in the Gospel of Luke 9:28 – 36.
Also featured in this video are the ruins of Megiddo and Caesarea. Megiddo is located on the southern edge of the plains of Jezreel. This is a long narrow stretch through Israel which is known as the great Highway that connects Egypt in the South to Syria in the North. Many battles have been fought for Megiddo, and the most famous battle which is predicted to come is the battle of Armageddon. Caesarea was built along the Mediterranean coast and began as a small Phoenician town which would later be transformed by Herod the Great in 20 BC. It was here in A.D. 66 that a riot occurred between the Jews and the Syrians, aided by the Romans, in which 20,000 Jews were massacred. It was this skirmish that lead to the Jewish revolt which in turn brought about the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in A.D. 70. Israel is a passion of mine and I would love the opportunity to share my experiences with your church or organization.
