Then & Now

Picture
Teresa and I have recently relocated to North Charleston South Carolina after living in Wilmington with our two sons, Joshua and Tanner since 2002. We've been married for 29 years, and without any reservations I can state she is my best friend and one of God's greatest gifts to me. Our sons are also a blessing to us, as they have served with us in ministry throughout the last twenty plus years. I now serve as Senior Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in North Charleston.

I've had the opportunity to serve several churches as pastor throughout North Carolina since 1992. Teresa and I also worked with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention as a church planter for seven years.

Education and Philosophy

Picture
I attended Liberty University on a football scholarship and obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in clinical psychology in 1986. I also hold a Master and Doctorate in Biblical Studies from Andersonville Theological Seminary. Presently, I'm working on a Masters of Theological Studies from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary in Shreveport Louisiana. As Christians, there is an expectation we continue to grow in our "walk" with the Lord, but real growth can't take place apart from the Scriptures. As part of my philosophy of ministry, I believe a biblical education is vital for not only propagating the Word but also for the survival of the Church. Two major areas of my time in ministry through the years have been devoted to teaching and pastoral care counseling. All too often I find those I communicate with have a thirst to know God more intimately, yet they lack even a basic understanding concerning the fundamental doctrines of our Christian faith. The dearth of biblical knowledge in the Christian community is one of the reasons I preach / teach expositionally.  Christianity has been under attack from those outside the body of Christ from its inception, and I believe those in leadership are called to equip the Church to live victoriously for the glory of Christ.

Many of my messages can be found on the "Sermons" page.
